Welcome to the first issue of Strictly-Stress-Free Journal. As you may have noticed, www.strictly-stress-management.com deals with two kinds of stress – emotional stress and oxidative stress. Managing and eliminating both is critical in achieving true wellness. Emotional stress happens when our bodies release hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol in response to a perceived threat or danger. Emotional stress happens because of our chaotic, busy lives or by difficult events in our lives. Emotional stress increases when chaos and instability lasts for prolonged periods. Emotional stress can be good stress called “eustress”, but more often than not, it is bad stress, called “distress.”

Oxidative stress is the stress that compromises our immune system and makes us sick. Prolonged emotional stress can and does lead to oxidative stress, but the other major factors that lead to oxidative stress are our diets, our lifestyles and the environments, in which we live.

Emotional stress and oxidative stress are very closely intertwined, much like leaves on a grape vine. Without careful tending and pruning, a grape vine, on your property, can swallow up your yard like the brambles around Sleeping Beauty’s castle. Our health and wellness can also be swallowed up when these two forms of stress run uncontrolled in our lives. It is now believed that more that 100 chronic degenerative diseases are caused by stress

Education and Empowerment

Our site offers three comprehensive tools to help manage and eliminate all kinds of stress. The first is information. Information is power. Many, if not all, of the changes, needed to be able to manage and control stress, are relatively small. The problem stems from the fact that people don’t have the information they need to understand that change is simple and possible; and they don’t know what answers or solutions are available. This site and e-zine are dedicated to being a resource for education and empowerment in managing and eliminating all forms of stress.

Emotional Stress and
"Solving the Wellness Challenge"

The second tool addresses emotional stress, specifically. All forms of emotional stress can be thought of as problems to be solved. Over the years, as life beats us down, we become weaker and weaker in our problem-solving skills. Quite often, our problem-solving skills were not that strong in the first place, which may have lead to problems becoming far bigger than what otherwise might have been. Our aim is to teach you the much needed problem-solving skills so that you can get back control of your health and your life. The good news is that effective problem solving is teachable.

Our “Solving the Wellness Challenge" Program uses effective business and project management tools to help people solve problems in their lives. Whether the problem is with your financial situation, your marriage or other romantic relationships, your children, your job, your business or any other wellness challenge, our “Solving the Wellness Challenge Program will take you through the steps needed to break the problem apart and put it back together in a way that is far less stressful in your life. We don’t use a simple list of problem solving steps. Instead, we base our program on an internationally recognized problem-solving model.

The truth is that if you think back to the times when you have successfully solved problems in your life, you probably used these skills without knowing it. The times when problems dragged on year after year and got worse instead of better were the times when you did not use these skills. We hope to help you learn the model so that you can apply problem-solving skills in your life on purpose instead of by accident.

Oxidative Stress and the
