What Vitamins For Stress Do You Take?

If it's not USANA, you might as well donate
your money to charity, because you're
likely doing more harm than good.

Have you ever thought about vitamins for stress? Given the amount of damage that stress does to the body, it stands to reason that nutritional support can help strengthen the body to repair the damage caused by stress. A strong immune system is a key element in the "pursuit of wellness" game.

The question you want to ask yourself is, do the vitamins I take actually help or do they cause more harm than good.

In the case of many over-the-counter supplements like Centrum, you would be better not to take supplements at all.

The following video shows the oxidation of a 3 chunks of apple in three bowls of water. The first bowl has a Centrum supplement in it, the second bowl is plain water and the third bowl has a Usana Mega-Antioxidant supplement in it. I don't know about you, but if I am going to pay for and take vitamins for stress, I want to make sure that I am actually helping my body, not harming it.

How Do Other Companies Measure Up?

Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements In the 2009 NutriSearch Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements, Usana received five out of five stars, it was awarded the NutriSearch Gold Medal of Achievement and it was selected as Editor's Choice. Centrum, on the other hand, receives 0 out of 5 stars on some of their products and 1/2 a star or 1 star on some of their other products.

Why is NutriSearch so important? NutriSearch, initially, compared each supplement product (1500 all together) against the combined recommendations of 14 nutritional experts to get the star rating. Then NutriSearch evaluates each 5-star supplement against 18 criteria that are important to your body's ability to use the vitamins efficiently. There really are very few nutritional products that should be consumed by human beings. Other well-known companies that receive very low scores for their products are as follows:

  • Equate - 0 to 1/2 a star depending on the product
  • Kirkland - 1/2 a star
  • Jamieson - 1/2 to 1 1/2 stars depending on the product
  • Melaleuca - 1 to 2 stars depending on the product
  • Natural Factors - 1 1/2 to 3 1/2 stars depending on the product
  • Nu-Life - 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 stars depending on the product
  • SISU - 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 stars depending on the product
  • Target - 0 to 1 star depending on the product
  • One-A-Day - 0 to 1 stars depending on the product
  • Safeway Select - 0 to 2 stars depending on the product
